the
pigingdon
club
The Pigingdon Club; is the first piece in a much larger, longer term project: Prodigious…
an immersive carnivalesque experience fusing video, installation and sculpture…
through a fantastical C.R.I.S.P.R. Genetic Engineering fairytale.
The project will use the G.E. narrative as a backdrop to investigate
and question power, the transference of it, and the absurdity of the whole process.
This piece mocks the infamous Bullingdon club, and its weird sus-loving rituals.
The three little pigs represent the young men who join these groups before they go out in the world.
Innocent at first sight, but then when a second look is taken, its damaged candy reality starts to reveal itself…
we see the three pigs are connected in an oddly sexual ritualistic manner…
Mirroring the toxic ceremonies of hazing culture, which our so-called future leaders participate in.

wonky
aesthetic
All features have been developed with elements of irregularity and imperfection so as to sit slightly off
Rather than using a refined hidden stitch I have adopted heavy overexposed stitching approach
Through out the entire process, be it through the treatment of the fabric or the application of the heavy stitching, the materials damage and age.
Together, creating a wonky detail aesthetic so as to counter the sweet candy colors of the characters.
